Preschoolers learn constantly, and home does not need to become a miniature classroom. Language, counting, problem-solving and curiosity can grow through ordinary play. Follow the child interests. If trucks are exciting, count wheels, sort vehicles by size and read books about construction. Keep learning bursts short and turn routines into practice by counting socks, comparing fruit, identifying letters on signs or measuring ingredients while cooking. Offer choices between two useful activities and ask open questions about what might happen next. Praise trying, noticing, asking questions and sticking with a challenge rather than making every activity about one correct answer.
