Mirror-polished stainless steel looks flawless because the surface is extremely smooth—so anything abrasive, gritty, or overly acidic can leave visible marks. The safest routine is gentle washing, soft drying, and careful storage.
Rinse the plate first to remove sugar, salt, or crumbs that can act like sandpaper. Wash by hand with warm water, a mild dish soap, and a soft sponge or microfiber cloth. Avoid scouring pads, powdered cleansers, and “scratch-free” scrubbers that still contain abrasives. Rinse thoroughly, then dry immediately with a clean microfiber towel to prevent water spots.
For quick touch-ups, wipe with a dry microfiber cloth first. If needed, lightly dampen the cloth with warm water and a drop of dish soap, then buff dry. A final pass with a clean, dry microfiber cloth helps restore the mirror finish.
If spots remain, use a 1:1 mix of white vinegar and water on a soft cloth, wipe gently, then rinse and dry right away. Don’t let vinegar sit for long periods—quick contact is enough for most mineral marks.
Soak the plate in warm, soapy water for 10–15 minutes, then wipe with a soft sponge. If residue persists, use a non-abrasive liquid stainless cleaner and follow the product directions, applying with minimal pressure.
Stacking mirror-polished plates can cause micro-scratches. Store individually, or place a soft cloth/liner between plates. Keep them away from loose cutlery in drawers, and avoid sliding plates across stone or ceramic surfaces.
